The Light Bender

"Oh man, I love those saws"

submission: The Light Bender
date: June 12, 2008

I dunno what's with the submissions today, but lots of them have that retro vintage saw wave chord sound, and honestly, I cannot get enough of it. So you've won my biased vote already for this song, haha :P

You had a very nice introduction, everything fit. I only have three complaints with this song (keep in mind that I love the song so it's pretty hard to find the complaints):

One, the piano was the FL Keys from FL! I suggest you go and find yourself a nice piano VST or something because honestly, those keys just sound far too cheesy. I enjoyed the song, but the keyboard took away a significant amount of feeling from it. At 41 seconds in, you instroduce this really high saw... REALLY high. It hurt my ears :( Just put it down an octave and I'm sure it'll be fine. Lastly, please, only use a guitar if you have a guitar player, or if you have some really kickass samples, man! FL Slayer sounds really bad.

The arrangement of the song is powerful and diverse, so it's something that I really enjoyed. You did a great job on the song, you just have a few things to work on on it, and then I'd listen to this song all the time :)

Could you do me a favor and check out my newest piece called "Emotions of a Crowbar"? I'd really appreciate it, and I'm sure you'd enjoy the track :) Check it out at:

Go K.K. Rider! (AC)

"Awe, I never heard the original."

date: June 12, 2008

It makes the remix music better to listen to if you have heard the original. Oh well, I'll cope. Lots of these video game themes seem to be based off of Zelda, Mario, FF and Sonic anyways, and I've heard all those, so it can't be that much different eh? Haha :P

I like what you've done mostly with the piece, but I'd like to hear a really great hard hitting drum track in the background, or possibly even one of your own melodies in the forefront? Consider that for the future, and your remixes will even be better man. Trust me ;)

Keep remixing songs! From what I'm hearing, you've got a lot of potential. Just remember; the point of a remix is to not necessarily make it sound cool, but to put your own mark on the music, as it were. Make the song your own, not the original artists.

I'd really appreciate it if you would check out my newest piece called "Emotions of a Crowbar". You can check it out here:

"Why hello there"

date: June 12, 2008

Well I like what you've got cooking here, but there's always room for improvement, eh?

I like the standard techno beat that you've got going. The arrangement is pretty nice, but I have a suggestion there; don't cut out the drums and instruments like that! Remember, a song is about the music, not about individual instruments (well, unless you write a piano solo or something haha).

I like the synths that you're using too, even though it wouldn't hurt to go and get yourself some free VSTs. Just quickly check out google and I'm sure that you'll find yourself some nice new sounds to play around with :)

My last suggestion is that you do some music research and find a key signature that you're comfy with. Some parts of the song sound good, and you could build a melody on top of those parts! But some parts do sound a little bit funky. So, just put a little extra time into it and make the entire piece sound great, not just a few parts :)

Could you do me a favor and check out my newest piece, "Emotions of a Crowbar"? I'd really appreciate it if you did. You can check it out here:

80's in The 08

"Haha, awesome!"

submission: 80's in The 08
date: June 12, 2008

I absolutely love the chord progression that you used in this track. Sounds retro as hell; I know a lot of people that would hate this song simply because it sounds the way that it does, but hey, I'm an 80s fan :) The only things that this song is missing is three things:

I'd work on the song structure a little bit. There are some parts in the song that are really messy and the bridges aren't that pleasant to the ears. It's not that hard to fix; just add a little bit more.

Second, the drum work. It's great, since it fits the genre. I like the samples and everything, but the volume and drum fills aren't really satisfactory to me. Get those things pumping!

Third, you need to get a wicked guitar solo in this piece :) Sure, I heard the keyboard solo and I'm very happy with what I heard, but you just need to add a little bit of variation. Where there is one solo, there must be another :)

Keep up the good work! Could you do me a favor and check out my newest song, "Emotions of a Crowbar"? I'd really appreciate it if you could repay the favor, friend :)

Tetris Dirty Remix

"sigh..."

submission: Tetris Dirty Remix
date: March 28, 2006

I don't care if this is a 'dirty' mix, this is a pretty half assed attempt at making a remix.

The song has no real structure, if its dirty, make it dirty. Not jumbled.

The only thing I can actally give you points for is effort, and originality. Try and make your music more enjoyale to listen to...

Author's Response:

theres always one....

a dirty remix is a jumbled one fool. geez, where have you been. and this isnt half assed, i spend an entire weekend [30+ hours] making this so shut up. over 300 tracks and patterns is a lot to throw in.

also, your stuff isnt that great either so dont be so critical if you cant back it up. i do appreciate constructive critizism, but you dont have anything constructive to say because you dont know what youre talking about!

your master,
HouseMasta
